The new Vacheron Constantin Harmony range is a winner for me.

A full post coming up including the Harmony Chronograph and the Harmony Chronograph Ultra-thin Grande Complication.

Porsche Design - Fast Cars, Exciting Watches

When one hears the name Porsche, cars come to mind. But I was pleasantly surprised when a friend of mine showed up with this timepiece - the Porsche Design Chronograph.

I was traveling when I had met this friend who had this watch on and so I took some shots of the timepiece. Watch is on a rubber strap with a folding clasp.

A close up view of the dial.

Probably an ETA7750 movement. This piece is in yellow gold.

And another look at the watch.

Nice sporty piece.

Lange Owners' Group Special Cabaret

Another very recognisable Lange timepiece is the rectangular case Lange Cabaret which was an earlier piece Lange developed.

Unlike many brands who encase a round movement into a rectangular case, the folks at Lange & Sohne developed their own rectangular movement to fit the case. In 2009, a group of Lange owners managed to convince the manufacture to produce a limited series of 25 pieces for their group - the Lange Owners Group (LOG). The result was a white gold cases, grey dial version - very classy!

The timepiece has all the hallmarks of a Lange.

The movement is impressive too.

Many of the Lange pieces are a gem when you look at the movement. This piece has aged nicely and a patina developed beautifully.

The balance cock is beautifully hand engraved as all Lange timepieces are. This one is no exception.

All pieces are accounted for and only available now in the pre-owned market. But good luck trying to find a seller.

If there is one other rectangular timepiece that I would like to own, it would be a Lange Cabaret. Thanks to my friend Mr. V who loaned me this piece. A discerning gentlemen who knows what he wants.

One Watch Two Uses - The Hamilton Khaki Navy Pioneer Limited Edition

The Hamilton Watch Company celebrated their 120th Anniversary in 2012 and to mark that occasion, they released the Limited Edition Khaki Navy Pioneer with a hand wound movement. An American brand since 1892, Hamilton watches are now Swiss Made.

Limited to 1892 pieces to mark the year of establishment, The Khaki Navy Pioneer features a special wooden case which transforms the watch into a desk clock - reminiscent of marine chronometers. The transformer timepiece is really cool… When you open the box, the watch case sits on the wooden case.

And when you lift the wooden case up from the base, you find the watch strap with the case back.

Hamilton has done a good job of developing a locking mechanism to secure the watch to the case and the desk display. One has to align the crown to the red dot found at the 1 o’clock position, push in and turn clockwise to until you hear a click to secure the watch.

Once you remove the watch, you can lock it into the strap and wear it as a regular timepiece.

The stainless steel case houses a Unitas hand wound movement.

Decent finishing on the movement. But for the price point, one cannot complain especially when another brand encased an unfinished movement and sold it at a price three times higher than this… You know which brand I am referring to right? But I digress…

On the front, a smart looking timepiece.

And a very clean looking dial.

The blued hands are always a winner for me and the clean dial makes the timepiece a lot more legible.

Overall a winner for me in many ways. But when the folks at Hamilton Watch Company priced it right, that made the decision so much easier! The 46.5mm timepiece sits well on my small wrist.

The newer range of Khaki Navy Pioneer comes with an automatic movement but the timepiece is still very attractive. For more information on the new Hamilton Khaki Navy Pioneer, please check out this link.

How about making a case to transform this into a pocket watch Hamilton?

JLC Grande Reverso Duo - One Watch Two Faces

Late last year a friend of mine bought a Grande Reverso Duo right here in Singapore. A frequent traveler, he had wanted a two time zone timepiece - the choice was a no-brainer.

The Reverso Duo is unique in that the single movement drives both time zones. The front dial is a white guilloché dial and the date window stretching from 11 to 1 o'clock.

The reverse features a dark grey guilloché dial with a Day/night indicator.

The watch is a Grande which means the case size is slightly larger than the "regular" Reversos. This example is 48.5 x 29.5mm. A nice size for a men's watch.

A close up shows the decorative engraving on the front dial as well as the back. The guilloché complements the watch.

The timepiece comes with the hand wound Calibre 986 and possesses a power reserve of 48 hours. That is my only gripe - for a traveler's watch, I wish they had made it with a longer power reserve.

Overall, I always like JLC the brand and especially the Reverso range. They make honest watches at a reasonable price range. And to think that they have more than 1,000 in-house developed calibres to their name, it is no wonder all their timepieces comes with in-house calibres.

Lange 1815 Chronograph - Just Enjoy the Beauty

What can I say - the 1815 Chronograph is perhaps the most beautiful in-house developed column wheel chronograph.

I was testing out my new contraption using the iPad as a light source and shooting this with my Leica D-Lux 6. First the sexy back...

Now the front.

And another view using a different angle and tool.

And finally coming back to the heart of the timepiece.

I hope you enjoyed the photos.
